Do you take insurance?

At this time, A Solution B, LLC does not feel that accepting insurance is the best way to protect clients. Many clients choose not to involve insurance companies in their mental health care. Their counseling is not limited by the diagnosis, treatment plan, or session limits that health insurance companies dictate. Insurance companies often limit the number of sessions and even the type of therapy you can receive.

Many insurance companies do not cover couples/relational or family therapy.

By paying out -of- pocket, we can assure private pay clients of the highest degree of privacy, flexibility and control of their mental health record allowed by Michigan state law, since our records are exempt from insurance reporting and random compliance audits. Our work is off record.

Does my insurance reimburse for your services?

Most insurances including Medicare reimburse for some of A Solution B’s Out-Of-Network services. It is imperative that you check your insurance plan to see which Out-Of-Network behavioral health/mental health services are reimbursable and the percentage you will receive.

I want to use my insurance. What do I do?

If you desire to use your insurance, there are a number of options to address this area: 1)Contact your insurance to obtain information regarding Out-of Network behavioral health services coverage, or 2) A Superbill, consisting of your services and a diagnosis, can be provided to you (after payment of services)  which you can then be submitted by using the Better App on your cell phone.

What’s the risk of using insurance?

Insurance is not a bad thing, there are many people who benefit from using insurance. However, to have therapy services covered under insurance, a mental health diagnosis must be made. This then becomes a part of your permanent healthcare record. This may lead to limitations such as denial for quality life insurance or health insurance later on. Since a mental health diagnosis must be made to obtain reimbursement, the insurance company has to know a lot of information about you to be covered. The insurance company can review all of your records at their discretion.

In addition, many insurance companies require a deductible to be met before they start reimbursing, so you may be paying out of pocket anyway.

How much do you charge for counseling?

My goal is to make counseling affordable and accessible to those in need. Depending on the type of session requested,  my minimum rate is $45 per session and the highest rate of $135 per session (the first appointment).  There is however, a scholarship option for those who are experiencing financial hardship. I offer the option of applying for scholarship services that is based on income and household size, as well as, various forms of therapy media. Prior to discussing scholarships you and I will discuss the other options of treatment provided which may benefit you financially. Counseling sessions are 30 minutes to 50 minutes to allow for time to complete notes, record keeping and traveling. Payment options may be discussed upon initial contact but typically will include an online credit card number to reserve your allotted time. Additional forms of payments accepted are as follows: Cash, Cheque, Mastercard, American Express, Visa, FSA, and HSA.
