My Approach

Welcome! I'm glad you stopped by. My name is Reynelda Jones,(a licensed professional and certified Acudetox specialist) and I'm here to help. My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe and compassionate place where counseling clients  from all over  Michigan can become empowered and gain support as they navigate through the challenges of life.  No matter what you're going through, whether it is stress, anxiety or PTSD, there is hope! I take a holistic approach to therapy. I strongly believe all individuals possess the innate ability to calm and direct themselves using discovered and undiscovered gifts. However, due to stress, anxiety, trauma responses, emotional management difficulty, and negative thought processes, often this ability has not been utilized effectively.

Therefore, I strive to assist my clients in the rediscovery of these abilities and the  enhancement of these accompanying gifts,  through the utilization of various therapeutic techniques such as mindfulness, acupuncture, suggested resources, and food intake as well as traditional therapeutic methods.

In addition, I am a firm believer in continued learning. Therefore, I often attend relevant conferences and workshops and research effective, evidence-based practices with a holistic, non-evasive approach. In my sessions, I often suggest books and other self-help resources to assist individuals with emotional wellness. The most recent suggested resource is provided below.

Mindfulness/Grounding

Mindfulness is a common therapeutic technique, which assists the individual with focusing her/his awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting her/his feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.

Grounding, which is very similar to mindfulness, is another common therapeutic technique which helps the individual to re-position her/his mind to the present moment, assuring the individual that she/he is in a safe  place.

This may include, but is not limited to, therapeutic sessions in your home or in natural settings.

“If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, live in the breath.” ~Amit Ray

Creative Therapy

Some may wonder how is art a part of therapy. However, art plays many important roles. For instance, art assists the individual in relieving stress as well as focusing on the here and now, thereby allaying the anxiety caused by continued dwelling in the past and/or nervous anticipation of future events.

Don't worry, though; you don't have to be perfect at this. There are various ways to utilize art, and it is my job to guide you in this area as needed.

Holistic Approaches

We offer Auricular (ear) Acupuncture detox. Research has proven Acupuncture detox to be a medication free alternative. This approach assists with decreasing chronic pain, anxiety symptoms, managing triggers, improves sleep, decreases headaches and so much more.

In life we "wear many hats." We adjust to these roles on a daily basis. However, if one area is disrupted it  can have a profound influence on the whole self. Therapy assists in the  process of balancing your life, making it more manageable and enjoyable for you.

This is a book I suggest to  my clients because the authors provide great information about little known products and plant based recipes . Plus it is hilarious, and a bit of humor can go a long way for someone who is stressed. My two favorite recipes: Sourdough French Toast and Chickpea and Dumpling Soup.
